Obituary of MCGUFFIN, CLARENDA HULL 1951 Oconee, SC Tugaloo Tribune, February 15, 1951 Mrs. Clarenda McGuffin Died Monday Morning Mrs. Claranda Hull McGuffin, 93, life-long resident of Oconee county, died at the Oconee Memorial Hospital at 11:15 Monday morning. She had been ill for the past two weeks. She was the widow of Thomas Franklin McGuffin who preceded her to the grave in 1933. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church near Westminster, and had spent practically all her life in the Toxaway community. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. A. J. Smith of Greenwood; one granddaughter whom she reared, Mrs. Elmo Smith of Westminster; three great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her family. Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church of Westminster Tuesday at 3 p. m. The Rev. M. J. Stansell, pastor in association with the Rev. C. A. Richardson, the Rev. W. A. Brown and the Rev. Harry Fraser of Greenwood conducted the service. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Active pallbearers were: Ralph Stone, Harold Mauldin, Henry Hardy, Paul and Horace Miller and Joe Hudgens. Composing the escort of honor were Claude Burdette, Luther Hammond, E. J. Brock, Carl Smith, Ralph Hunt, Talmadge Smith, Jesse W. Smith, Dr. E. L. Shuler, J. R. Brown, Charles Hamby, Cliff Adams, Nathan Vigodsky, Sam Reeder, and Cleroy Freeman.
