Obituary of KNOX, CAROLYN E. 1922 Oconee, SC Keowee Courier, October 4, 1922 A most distressing accident occurred about noon Saturday at the Townville street railroad crossing, when Carolyn, the 20-months-old baby of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Knox, in attempting to cross the track, was hit by Train No. 12 and fatally injured. The child had been playing in the yard, when her older sister started on an errand down street. and the baby was following her without the knowledge of the family, when the fatal accident occurred. First aid was immediately given, and as soon as possible Dr. E. C. Doyle, with Mr. and Mrs. Knox and others motored to a Greenville hospital with the baby in the hope that something might be done to save the life of the little one. But to no avail. About 3 O'clock Sunday afternoon God claimed little Carolyn to live with the angels in heaven. She went without regaining consciousness. Funeral services were conducted at the home Monday morning by Rev. J. W. Willis and Rev. H. B. Hardy, after which the remains were laid away in God's acre midst a bed of flowers. Profound sympathy of tile entire community is felt for the bereaved family in their great sorrow. ************************************************************************ Copyright.
