Obituary of KAY, HORTENSIA CROSS 1952 Oconee, SC Keowee Courier, January 17, 1952 Mrs. Kay Dies At Westminster Funeral services were conducted Tuesday in Westminster for Mrs. Hortensia Cross Kay, 88-year-old resident of Oconee county who died Monday at the home of a son in Westminster. She had been in ill health for about five years. The Rev. W. A. Brown and the Rev. W. S. Cromer conducted the rites and interment followed in East View cemetery. Pall-bearers were Marion King, Julian King, Thomas Gordon, Wade Harper, Edward Schroder, and Julian Seaborn. Deacons and elders of the Westminster Presbyterian church composed the escort of honor. Mrs. Kay was the widow of George W. Kay, who preceded her to the grave in 1938. She was a daughter of the late Major B. A. Cross and Hortensia Singleton Cross. She was the oldest member of the Westminster Presbyterian church. Survivors include two sons, Charles W. of Sheffield, Ala., and George Kay, of Westminster, and four daughters; Mrs. A. T. King of Seneca; Mrs. R. A. Smith and Mrs. J. C. Cowart, of Phoenix City, Ala., and Mrs. M. T.
