Obituary of JENKINS, WADE HAMPTON 1924 Oconee, SC Tugaloo Tribune, May 6, 1924 Mr. Wade H. Jenkins Dies After Short Illness On last Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock Mr. Wade Hampton Jenkins died at his home in Oconee Mill village. His death was due to stroke of paralysis, and he was seriously ill only a few hours. Mr. Jenkins collapsed and fell while working on Tuesday and he was never able to speak distinctly after he fell. Mr. Jenkins was a faithful employee of the Oconee Mills for more than twenty years, working in the carding department. He was a good operative and was on his job when the fetal stroke seized him. Mr. Jenkins was in unusual good spirits, jolly and enjoying life last Tuesday and his passing was quite a shock to all. He was the eldest son of Capt. N. H. Jenkins and Mrs. Lizzie McCay Jenkins both of whom are dead. He was reared in the Westminster locality. He leaves his widow, who before her marriage to Mr. Jenkins, Mrs. Amanda Brown Adams and three stepsons, Claude, S. J. and Paul Adams. Also, he leaves several sisters. Mr. Jenkins was an honest man. He was clever kind and true to his friends. There are many who join in extending sympathy to the bereaved widow. After funeral services conducted from the Imanuel Baptist church by his pastor, Dr. Will O. Gordon, the body was interred in Eastview cemetery in the family plot, where his father, mother and brother, Paul, are buried. ************************************************************************ Copyright.
