Obituary of JENKINS, NANCY AMANDA BROWN ADAMS 1931 Oconee, SC Keowee Courier, September 1, 1931 Mr. S. J. Adams and Mrs. J. A. Lawrence Bereaved The many friends in Westminster of Mr. Sidney J. Adams and Mrs. J. A. Lawrence sympathize with them in the death of their mother and sister, Mrs. Amanda Brown Adams Jenkins, which occurred at the home of her youngest son, Mr. Paul D. Adams, of Gainesville, Ga., on last Wednesday morning shortly before four o'clock. She had been seriously ill only four or five days. Mrs. Jenkins was a native of Oconee and had lived in the Chicopee Mill village, Gainesville, Ga., two years. She was a Miss Brown and her first husband was James Adams, who died thirty-seven years ago. She married Wade Hampton Jenkins later and he died in 1924. By her first marriage she is survived by three sons, Messers. Claude, Sidney J., and Paul Adams and a number of grandchildren. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. J. W. Lyles, of Deercourt, Ga., and Mrs. Finch, of Charlottesville, Va., and one half brother and one half sister, Mr. W. T. Clinkscales, of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. J. A. Lawrence of Westminster. Mrs. Jenkins was a good woman, esteemed by a large circle of friends who sorrow to know of her passing. She joined the Baptist church at Westminster many years ago. The body was brought here Thursday morning and the interment was made in Eastview cemetery. that afternoon by the side of the grave of her last husband in the presence of a large assembly of sorrowing friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. N. Potts and Dr. F. O. Mixon. The deceased was 69 years old. ************************************************************************ Copyright.
