Obituary of JAYNES, LAYLON J. 1959 Oconee, SC Keowee Courier, January 7, 1959 Laylon Jaynes Taken By Death Laylon J. Jaynes, 63, a resident of the Neville Community, Highlands highway, died in the Veterans Hospital in Columbia early, Thursday morning following several years of declining health. Mr. Jaynes, a native of Oconee county, was a retired farmer. He was a son of the late Tom Etta Addis Jaynes, and a member of Rocky Knoll Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon. He was a member of the Men's Bible Class of the Sunday School, and also of the Woodmen of the World. He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Lewis E. Blanchett Post of the American Legion. He was the last member of his immediate family. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ninetta Chastain Jaynes, of the home; also several nieces and nephews. Services were held Saturday from Rocky, Knoll Baptist with the Rev. Carl Raines and the Rev. Ossie Owens officiating. Burial was in Oconee Memorial Park. Pallbearers: Roy and Ralph Turner, Hubert Brucke, Dewey Crawford, Clyde Gwinn, Charles and Billy Chastain, Wayne Seegers. The escort of honor was composed of Bill Holden, Harry Fayonsky, Joe Moss, Sidney Blanchett, Jim Howell, Jonah Winchester, John Moss, Harold Williams, Henry Crumpton, Herman Burklein, Reeves Franks, Dr. J. P. Booker, J. N. Chastain, Joe T. Rogers, John Kuemmerer, Arnold Satterfield, E. E. Jamison, and E. C. Stegall.
