Obituary of DICKSON, SAMUEL WESTON 1955 Oconee County, SC Keowee Courier, March 9, 1955 Dickson Rites At Westminster Samuel Weston Dickson, 80, well known Oconee county citizen, died suddenly at his home in Westminster Wednesday. Mr. Dickson was apparently in usual health until stricken with a heart attack a few minutes before his death. He was a lifelong resident of Oconee county, and a son of the late John Milton and Clara Reeder Dickson, pioneer resident of this section of the state. During his active years he was identified with the grocery business in Westminster for a long period of time, and also the livestock business here. Mr. Dickson was a member of the Westminster Baptist church which he attended regularly as long as health permitted. He was also a member of the Dr. Strickland Bible Class of the church, and a past member of Woodmen of the World. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lessie Woolbright Dickson, and they would next December have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary; two sons, S. W. Dickson, Jr., of Westminster, and Herman Dickson, also of Westminster; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Hicks and Miss Irene Dickson, also of Westminster; one brother, Aden Dickson, of Greenville, and a sister, Mrs. Sallie Poore, of Belton; also two grandchildren, Billy and S. W. Dickson, III. Funeral services were held from Westminster Baptist church Friday. The Rev. Willie S. Cromer, pastor, and the Rev M. J. Stansell officiated. Burial was in Oconee Memorial Park. Pallbearers: Roscoe Wilson, Harold Hull, Marshall Cleveland, Willis Elmer, Sidney Harper, Terrell Harbert. Members of the Dr. Strickland Bible Class formed the escort of honor with Dr. E. L.
