Obituary of DICKSON, SUSAN EATON 1921 Oconee County, SC Tugaloo Tribune October 25, 1921 DEATH OF MRS. SUSAN DICKSON On October 19th, last, at 10 o'clock p. m., Mrs. Susan Dickson passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dora Long, of the Chauga section. She had been a sufferer from cancer on her face for quite a number of years, although at the time of her death was ot thought to be serious. Mrs. Dickson was 74 years of age and was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist church, of which she united with 47 years ago, and had spent all her life in this section of the county. Her maiden name was Eaton, being a sister of the late Geo. W. Eaton who was a citizen of Walhalla for many years. She was the devoted wife of the late Marshall Dickson, who preceded her to the grave some 24 years ago. This union was blessed with twelve children, of which eight are living, and four dead. The living children are Mrs. Docia Boggs, Mrs. Dora Long, Mrs. Lena Sullivan, Mrs. Sam Cobb, Mrs. Effie Burton, Mrs. Annie Cox, Mrs. Queen Freeman, Mrs. Alice Freeman. The four deceased children of Mr. and Mrs. Dickson are: Alonzo and William Dickson; Mrs. Wm. Head and Miss Carrie Dickson. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. L. D. Chalmers, who gave a very impressive talk in the presence of a large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives. Her body was buried in the Cross Roads cemetery at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon.
