Obituary of BURTON, ROBERT TAYLOR 1965 Oconee County, SC Keowee Courier, June 16, 1965 Burton Funeral Held Wednesday Funeral services for Robert Taylor Burton, 74, of Highlands Highway, who died Monday, were conducted Wednesday at Rider Mount Fire Baptized Holiness Church by Rev. B. O. McClain, Rev. Leo Fitzgerald and Rev. J. H. Griffin. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were R. L. Eugene and Ralph Butts, Bobby and Jimmy Whitman and Herman Burton. Honorary escort was the Men's Bible Class of Rider Mount Fire Baptized Holiness Church and Clyde Boggs, Z. T. Abbott, Rev. Tom Whitman, E. M. Dickson, Louis Mays, Glenn and Curtis Burton and Grover Smith. A lifelong resident of Oconee county, son of the late Rev. William and Mrs. Betty Cobb Burton, he was a charter member of Rider Mount Fire Baptized Holiness Church, where he was a deacon and teacher of the Adult Bible Class. He was a produce dealer and operated Burton Cider Mill. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Effie Dickson Burton; three daughters, Mrs. Mae Butts and Mrs. Geneva Palfrey of Westminster and Mrs. Norie Whitman of Seneca; two sons, Amos Burton of Westminster and Charles Burton of Walhalla; a sister, Mrs. Ollie Butts of Westminster; a brother, McKinley Burton of Westminster; 18 grandchildren and a greatgrandchild. ************************************************************************ Copyright.
