Obituary of BOGGS, HOMER R. 1966 Oconee County, SC Keowee Courier, January 26, 1966 Homer R. Boggs Taken By Death Homer R. Boggs, 72, of the New Hope community, died at Oconee Memorial Hospital Friday after a day of illness. Native of Oconee county, son of the late R. L. and Mollie Fendley Boggs, he was a retired farmer and a member of the county committee of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service-and the FHA. After World War II, he taught veterans at Salem High School a number of year. He was a member, of the Grange, Charles McGee Byrd Post of the American Legion, C o u r t e n a y Lodge 249 AFM and Woodmen of the World. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bettie Kelley Boggs; three sons, Roy Boggs of Greenville, Carl Boggs of Conway and Dean Boggs of Winnsboro; a daughter, Mrs. Lindsey S. Bass of Wilmington, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Julie Sanders, of Columbia; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at New Hope Baptist Church Sunday by Rev. Willie Honea, Rev. M. J. Stansell and Rev. Clyde Crenshaw. Burial was in the church cemetery with Masonic rites. Pallbearers were Fred Holden, Bill Findley, Jack Kell, Furman Vickery, Eugene Boggs, Victor Elrod, Jim Burkette and Thomas Petty. ************************************************************************ Copyright.
