Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Margaret Abbott
   Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the East Side Baptist 
church in Liberty for Mrs. Margaret Hayes Abbott, 83, a native of Oconee County 
and the widow of the late Rev. W. T. Abbott.  She died at the home of a 
daughter in Liberty Sunday afternoon.  Mrs. Abbott was born and reared in 
Oconee county, the daughter of the late Re. Hamilton N. Hayes and Martha Snipes 
Hayes.  She has been active in civic and church affairs all her life.  Services 
were conducted by the Rev. Robert Wheeler, The Rev. Preston Garrett, and the 
Dr. C. E. Scarborough.  Burial followed in West View cemetery, and her 
grandsons served as pallbearers.  The honorary escort was composed of A. E. 
Stokes, J. T. Medlock, Cleo Watson, Claud Burriss, J. R. Balles, Early Gunter, 
E. S. McCall, J. E. Vaughn, J. D. Bolden, John Sullivan, J. P. James, Sam 
Shirley, Dr. P. E. Swords, Dr. W. T. Kitchen, and deacons of East Side Baptist 
church.     Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. J. H. Moore and Mrs. G. T. 
James, of Liberty, and Mrs. C. D. Gillespie and Mrs. E. M. Cooper, of Seneca.
