ABBOTT, AVAVILLE EVELINE Keowee Courier, August 18, 1860 Submitted by: Susan Brock-Booker Departed this life, near Walhalla, S.C., Friday August 10th, 1860, Miss Averillia Abbett, in the 52nd year of her age. Miss Abbett left a lonely mother, five brothers, and five sisters, together with a large train of relatives and friends to mourn their irreparable loss. She was an affectionate daughter, a kind sister and connected herself with such christian propriety in all the relations of life as to gain the esteem and good will of all that knew her. As she approached the hour of death, the grace of God was sufficient to enable her to bear her affliction as a faithful Christian, with the hope of a future world of endless happiness. To the last hour she seemed to be aware of her departure; when interrogated by her friends concerning her soul, she would reply that there was nothing on earth to make her wish to remain. She is gone, her afflictions have ended, and her soul is wafted beyond the shores of sorrow and pain, by the angelic choirs with whom she will be enabled to sing praises to Him who triumphed over death.
