MR. J. BEN ABBOTT DEAD
The Keowee Courier last week copied from a Texas paper the death of Mr. J. Ben 
Abbott, of Weatherford, Texas, which comes as a source of sorrow to his many 
relatives and friends in Oconee. Mr. Abbott died April 14th at the advanced age 
of 91. He was a native of the Walhalla and Coneross sections of Oconee.  The 
Texas paper has the date wrong when Mr. Abbott went west. It says 1868. It was 
the year 1885. His brother, George, went to Texas first and it might have been 
1868 when he landed in the west.
