Services will be at noon Wednesday at Allen A.M.E. Church, Burton, with burial in the church cemetery. Ms. Derico was born Dec. 27, 1913, in Beaufort County, a daughter of Mattie Blandin. She received her formal education in Beaufort County public schools. She moved to New York and worked as a domestic engineer. After retiring, she moved to Dale and joined Allen A.M.E. Church where she sang in the choir. After her health failed, she moved into Bostick Care Home, Beaufort. At the time of her death, she lived in Levars Care Home, Allendale. Survivors include a son, James Derico of Dale, and a grandchild.
