The family will receive friends at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claudie Mack Shelton, at 231 Columbia St., Chester. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Christopher King’s Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester. (Published Oct 16, 2002) Mr. Allahtume Shotas Shelton CHESTER – The funeral for Mr. Allahtume Shotas Shelton of Pittsburgh, formerly of Chester and Charlotte, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 18, from Red Hill Baptist Church in Woodard. The Rev. Joseph Stringfellow will officiate and be assisted by the Rev. Charlie Stringfellow. Burial will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens on West End Road. Mr. Shelton died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. A native of Mecklenburg, he was a son of LaVerne Shelton Green and Donald Green. Mr. Shelton attended the public schools of Mecklenburg and worked in the culinary field. Survivors include his mother, LaVerne Shelton Green of Cornelius, N.C.; his father, Donald Green of Charlotte; his guardians, Aaron C. and Calereno Cunningham of Charlotte; his maternal grandparents, Claudie Mack and Carrie Shelton of Chester; and his paternal grandmother, Mary Green of Charlotte. The family will receive friends from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Claudie Mack Shelton, 231 Columbia St., Chester. Mr. Shelton will lie in state the day of the funeral at the church from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. Christopher King’s Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester, is in charge of arrangements.
