Isiah Rudy Loadholt, 52, of Furman, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, in Hampton Hospital. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4:30 p.m. today at Allen Funeral Home, Coosawhatchie. Wake services will be held 6 to 8 p.m. today at First Thankful Baptist Church, Estill. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Estill Elementary School Auditorium, Estill, with burial in First Thankful Baptist Church cemetery. The Rev. Loadholt was born Dec. 25, 1949, in Hampton County, a son of Maybell Loadholt and Hector Loadholt. He was a member of the First Thankful Baptist Church of Estill, where he was a member of the male chorus and the senior choir. He became an ordained minister in 1998. He graduated from Estill Training School in 1967. He received a degree in criminal justice from Voorhees Technical College, Denmark. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army and he was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He became Hampton County's first black sheriff in 1983, and he served for twelve years. He was the county's youngest elected sheriff. He was declared Officer of the Year by the Jaycees in 1976, and received over fifty certificates of appreciation for outstanding service. He was honored in ceremonies sponsored by the Hampton County branch of the NAACP, Hampton County Council, Hampton County Youth Adult Auxiliary and American Legion Post No. 329. From 1988 to 1990, he was a past worship master of Steepbottom Lodge No. 300. He was preceded in death by a son, Corneilus T. Loadholt. Survivors include an adoptive mother, Clara Mae McCraw; a spouse, Lessie Loadholt of Furman; a daughter, Bree Victoria Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, Stacy Loadholt of Varnville; two sisters, Lillie Mae Cummings of Furman and Ethel Robinson of Lena; two brothers, Ernest Loadholt of Furman and Orilee Loadholt of Murrels Inlet; and five grandchildren. *********************************************************************************************** NOTICE: Printing the files within by non-commerical individuals and libraries is encouraged, as long as all notices and submitter information is included.
