Stonewall St., Rock Hill, a Chester native, was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greene Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel with Dr. Tim McClendon officiating. Burial was in Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road. Mr. Dove, 89, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville. A native of Chester, he was a son of the late Samuel Dove and Minnie Dye Dove. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and the Woodmen of the World lodge. He was the owner and operator of Dove’s Garage and Body Shop with longtime partner, Robert Massey Jr. Survivors include a son, David Coleman Dove Jr. of Mt. Holly; a daughter, Helen “Jo” Ferrell of Charlotte; a brother, Harold Dove of North Charleston; three sisters, Rosa Lee D. Jourdan and Elizabeth D. Hardin, both of Chester, and Julia Faye D. Kemp of Goose Creek; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, Janie Anice Hair Dove. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 310-B Bennett Center Drive, Greer, S.C. 29650. Greene Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
