Mrs. Wittschen was born in Charleston, S.C., on March 1, 1914, a daughter of John W. Tanner and Annie Wolfe Tanner. She was a retired bookkeeper for Atlantic Coast Life Insurance Company. She was a member of the Daughters of America where she served as a National Counselor, Order of Amaranth, and Daughters of the Nile. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a son, J. Harvey Wittschen, Jr., of Folly Beach, S.C., a daughter, Joann W. Burks of Clearwater, Fla., a granddaughter, two great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, two brothers, James P. Tanner and John W. Tanner, both of Charleston, S.C., a sister, Mary T. Willis of North Charleston, S.C., and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund, 1157 Sam Rittenburg Blvd., Charleston, S.C. 29407.
