Wightman, died Thursday, October 18, 2001, in a Moncks Corner hospital. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, October 25, 2001, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to a charity of one's choice. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday. Mrs. Wightman was born April 21, 1917, in Higganum, Conn., a daughter of Mable Davis Porter and Whitney Scovil Porter. She graduated from schools in Higganum and Middletown, CN, and from Sergeant College of Boston University with a degree in physical therapy. She served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II with the Yale Unit of the 39th general hospital in the South Pacific for three years at hospitals in New Zealand, New Caledonia, and Saipan. She accompanied her husband during his employment with Albany International on his work assignments in France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Brazil, and South Africa. She was a member of the Women's Memorial in Washington, DC. Surviving are her husband, William S. Wightman; one daughter, Prudence J. Sloane of Salem, CN; one son, W. Porter Wightman of Norwood, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Heather J. Daley, Janet Wightman, and Spencer Whitney Sloane.
