YEMASSEE, S.C. - Matthew (Douglas) Washington, 68, of the Roadside 
Community died Thursday at his residence.Viewing will be in the Chapel 
of Young Funeral Home, Yemassee, S.C., on Sunday, October 7, 2001, 
from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, 1
p.m., in the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Yemassee, S.C., with burial in 
the church cemetery.Born March 7, 1933, Colleton County, S.C., he was 
a son of the late Sam Washington and Fannie Field Washington. He 
resided his entire life in Colleton County, S.C. He was a member of 
the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Yemassee, S.C.Surviving are, three 
brothers, Jessie Washington, Henry Washington, and Arthur Washington, 
all of Yemmassee, S.C.; two sisters-in-law, Corine Washington and Ann 
Washington, both of Yemassee, S.C., other relatives.YOUNG FUNERAL HOME,
