DENMARK, S.C. - Services for Carrie Belle Tyler Binnicker Warren, 85, 
will be held, 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2001, at St. Phillips 
Chapel, Vorhees College, Denmark, S.C., with burial in Bamberg Memory 
Gardens. The family will be at MERCER FUNERAL HOME, from 6 to 8 p.m., 
Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, Building 
Fund, Denmark, S.C. 29042, or S.C. Coalition Against Violence and 
Sexual Assault, P.O. Box 7776, Columbia, S.C. 29202-7776. Ms. Warren 
died Sunday, October 28, 2001. She was the daughter of Clarence 
Easterlin and Carrie Foy Tyler, was born in Birmingham, Ala., and 
grew up in Springfield, S.C. She was pre-deceased by husbands, Willie 
Woodrow Binnicker and Herman Warren. Ms. Warren was an active member 
of the Bamberg County and Denmark Community. She was the first female 
elected to City Council in Denmark and served for eight years as 
Emergency Services Commissioner. She was appointed to represent 
Denmark on the Lower Savannah Council of Governments and served one 
term as treasurer of that body. She was president of Congress of 
Parents and Teachers (PTA). She was the first female reader of Christ 
Church as well as the first female Senior Warden at that church. She 
also served Christ Church a number of years as treasurer and Bethel 
Park United Methodist as Sunday school teacher and pianist.
She organized the Bamberg County Coalition to Assist Abused Persons 
and served as executive director of that agency the three years of its
existence. She was a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem for one year and 
then served as Bamberg County Guardian Ad Litem Coordinator until her
retirement at age 84 in June of 2000. Ms. Warren was bookkeeper and 
office manager at Edisto Packing Co., Holland Atlantic Hitch Co., and 
Rogers Tire Service. She was also employed as editor of the Denmark 
Advertiser. Ms. Warren received the Order of the Silver Crescent from 
Gov. James Hodges in 2000. The governor presented the award in 
recognition of her dedication, commitment and leadership for South 
Carolina and her citizens. She also received the Political Award for 
Outstanding Contributions to the Community during Women's History
Month, March 1987, and a Certificate of Achievement for Outstanding 
Community Services (Care Provider) in March 1966, both for the Nu Tau 
Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Surviving are, a son 
and daughter-in-law, W. Woodrow and Janice Binnicker of Eutawville, 
S.C., daughters Pamela Caroline Binnicker of Atlanta, Ga., and 
son-in-law and daughter Ken and Elizabeth Warren Robinson of 
Greenville, a sister and brother-in-law, Peggy Tyler and Alfred M. 
Prescott of Belvedere, S.C., six grandchildren and eight 
great-grandchildren. (Published Oct 30, 2001)
