THOMPSON, David
David Eggleston Thompson, 79, of North Charleston died Wednesday 
morning, October 17, 2001, at his home. The funeral service will be 
1 o'clock p.m., Friday, October 19, 2001, in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC., 
GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial 
Gardens. Friends may call this evening (Thursday) from 6 until 8 p.m.,
at Stuhr's Greenridge Road Chapel. A native of Mobile, Ala., he was 
the son of David B. and Marie Eggleston Thompson. A graduate of 
Charleston High School, he served with the famous Flying Tigers in 
Burma, China, and India as an aerial photographer. After the war, he 
attended the Citadel. He worked for AT&T/Western Electric as an 
installer, retiring after 34 years of service. He was a member of the 
Telephone Pioneers of America and the First Southern Methodist Church 
of North Charleston. He is survived by his wife, Minnetta Covert 
Thompson; his son, Paul D. Thompson of Mt. Pleasant; his brother and 
sister-in-law, George E. and Rebecca Thompson of Hurst, Texas; and his
sisters and brother-in-law, Ann and William L. Ahls of Marietta, Ga.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of 
Charleston, 3896 Leeds Ave., North Charleston, S.C. 29405, or First 
Southern Methodist Church of North Charleston, 1301 Remount Road,
