Residence, Goose Creek, S.C. The relatives and friends of Chief Petty Officer and Mrs. John Wallace Schmidt are invited to attend the funeral services of the former in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL, Sunday afternoon, October 14, 2001, at 5 o'clock. Burial services will be private. Friends may call at Stuhr's Greenridge Road Chapel this (Saturday) evening between 7 and 9 o'clock. Mr. Schmidt was born February 2, 1928, in Beaver Dam, Wisc., a son of the late John Antoin and Mildred Barnhardt Schmidt. Chief Schmidt was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam War and had served his country for 22 years, and later worked in civil service at the Naval Weapons Station, Charleston, S.C., and was a member of the American Legion, a Mason, and Shriner. Surviving are, his wife of Goose Creek, S.C., five daughters, Karen Holmes of Goose Creek, S.C., Linda Williams of Round-O, S.C., Carole Robertson of Fredericksburg, Va., Marylou Deane and Amy O'Brien, both of Goose Creek, S.C.; four sons, Pete Goetz of Garden City, Calif., Michael Goetz of Verdi, Nev., Donald B. Goetz of Fairfield, Ohio, Mark Schmidt of Van Nuys, Calif.; a sister, Lois Tesch of Horicon, Wisc. Dear to him are his grandchildren, Melodee, Bubba, Travis, Karrie, Joshua, Megan, Ashley, Blake, Devon, Shawn, Kristy, Rachele, Courtney, Charlest and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Brittanee, Marissa, Michael, Joseph, Hunter, Noah, and Jackson. Chief Schmidt was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Haley.
