Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, at First Baptist Church of Walterboro with Dr. W. Steven Brown and Rev. Posey Belcher officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, directed by the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.Mrs. Pierce was born in Shelby, N.C., a daughter of the late S.B. Shelton and Eva Payne Shelton. She was the treasurer of Colleton County, and worked for the county for more than 20 years, serving as Deputy Treasurer prior to being elected to her current office. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Walterboro, where she was a member and treasurer of the Willing Worker Sunday School Class. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Walterboro Chapter #147, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the Milcah Temple #77, Daughters of the Nile. She was a member and treasurer of the South Carolina Elected Officials Association, a member of the South Carolina Association of Accessing Officials, a member of the Colleton County Taxpayers Association, member of South Carolina State Employees Association, and a Commissioner with Lowcountry Regional Airport.Surviving are, her husband, George H. Pierce; her sons, C. Rodger Pierce, Sr., and his wife, Valerie of Greenville, and Michael Pierce and his wife Cynthia of Walterboro; her grandchildren, Leigh Cook and her husband Scott, Charles R. Pierce, Jr., Beth Sightler and her husband, Mac, Micki Pierce, B. Kyle Pierce, Jennifer Owen, Harmony Godfrey and Chasity Godfrey; great-grandchildren, Jesse Cook, Gracie Pierce, and Katelyn Sightler; a brother, C. Edward Shelton of Goose Creek; two sisters, Mildred S. Whitmire and Helen S. Barnett, both of Marietta, S.C. She was predeceased by a daughter, Michelle Ann Pierce, a brother, Donald Ray Shelton, and a sister, Linda Jean Medlin.Memorials may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, P.O.
