Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2001, in the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial directed by the Andrews Chapel of MCKENZIE FUNERAL HOME will follow in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 7 to 9 Thursday evening, October 4, 2001 at the Andrews Chapel of the McKenzie Funeral Home. Mr. Merritt was born March 4, 1913 in Lee County, a son of John Noel Merritt and Bessie Lindsey Merritt. He was a Millwright worker for the Georgetown Mill of International Paper Company; a member of the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was predeceased by his first wife, Hazel D. Merritt. Surviving in addition to his wife, Mrs. Dorothy M. Merritt of Andrews, are two sons, Carl A. Merritt, Jr. and James Larry Merritt, both of Georgetown; two daughters, Rebecca M. Cox of Anderson and Kathy M. Goodwin of Georgetown; step-children, Dale Morris and Michael Morris, Jewel Cool and Brenda Cooper, all of Andrews; one sister, Lillie Mae Davis of Sumter; 25 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
