Massalon of Mt. Pleasant, SC died Saturday, October 3, 2001 in a local nursing home. The funeral service will be Tuesday, October 16, 2001 in Christ Episcopal Church, Six Mile, at 1:00 o'clock. Interment will follow in Christ Episcopal Churchyard. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock. Mrs. Massalon was born in Bethera, SC, a daughter of William M. and Carrie Shaw Mitchum. She was a retired employee of Piggly Wiggly and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. Survived by her daughter, Joye M. Bruorton of Charleston, SC, son, John J. "Jim" Massalon of Mt. Pleasant, SC, step-daughter, Grace M. Kinman of Miami, Florida, a brother, Clarence J. Mitchum of Hollywood, SC, two sisters, Dorothy M. Smoak of Meggett, SC and Virginia M. Shannon of West Palm Beach, Florida, two grandchildren, Brandi Bruorton and Jessie Bruorton, one great-grandson, Jeremy Joseph Bruorton and three step-grandchildren.
