Mason, age 85, of Swainsboro, Ga., at the Emanuel Medical Center in Swainsboro, Ga., on Saturday, September 29, 2001, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 2, 2001, at 2 p.m., at Southside Baptist Church in Swainsboro, Ga., with the Rev. Earl Warnock and Rev. Hershel Clements officiating. Mrs. Mason will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Mason was pre-deceased by her husband, Julius Mason, a grandson, Dale Smith, and a son-in-law, Larry Clark. She was a native of Emauel County and was retired with Creston's and was a homemaker. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Swainsboro, Ga. Survivors include, three daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Lawson Smith and Kay and Verlyn Arrington of Swainsboro, Ga., and Virgie Clark of Columbia, S.C.; one son, Gene Mason of Lewisburg, Tenn.; two sisters, Roberta Rush and Evelyn McDaniel of Charleston, S.C.; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
