Major, 87, of 134 Driftwood Dr., Eutawville, died Wednesday in a North Charleston hospital. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Mr. Major was born in Greenville a son of the late Herbert Major and Willie Allison Major. He was employed as a welder with Westvaco for 35 years and was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #470. He was a member of Cherokee Place United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Emily Major; son, Wayman Major, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant; devoted daughter, Margaret Landrum of North Charleston; daughters Sandra Noren and Jeanette Gibson of North Charleston; sisters, Sarah Sloan of Greenville, and Inez Branham of North Charleston; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
