Hazel TIMMONSVILLE - M. Hazel Knight, 89, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, died October 22, 2001 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 o'clock p.m. Thursday at Bethany Free Will Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery, directed by FLOYD FUNERAL HOME. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today (Wed.) at the funeral home. Born in Florence county, he was a son of the late Willie Wright Knight and Daisy Nettles Knight. Mr. Knight was a retired farmer and barber, where he was former owner and operator of Brabham Barber Shop on South Dargan Street in Florence. He was a Mason, and a charter member of Oak Grove Lodge #378, where he served as Past Master. He served as Precinct Manager of Oak Grove Voting Precinct, and was a 50 year member of Bethany Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Randall Kirby Sunday School Class, and was a Lifetime Deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Lane Knight, a sister, Elise Robinson, and three brothers, Kenneth Knight, Ashton Knight and Sam Knight. Surviving are two daughters, Myrna K. Hardy of Greenville, SC and Gail Carroll of Sacramento, CA; two sons, Marion H. Knight of Timmonsville and Ronald Knight of Scranton; two sisters, Mrs. Milne Eaddy of Georgetown and Mrs. Henrietta Morris of Charleston; one brother, Melbourne Knight of Lake City; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
