Horton, Sr., died Sunday in Greenville. Mrs. Horton was born in Abbeville, a daughter of the late Jesse B. Harkness and Mrs. Nancy (Nannie) Gilliam Harkness. She was a graduate of Columbia College and a retired school teacher of the Kingstree public high school. Mrs. Horton was a member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. Surviving are three children: Francis H. Horton, Jr. and Edward H. Horton, both of Greenville, and Nancy Jane Horton McDaniel of Hilton Head, five grandchildren: Francis H. Horton, III and Edward Zachary Horton, both of Greenville, Dr. Samuel Redden Webster Horton of Charleston, James W. McDaniel, Jr. of Alpharetta, GA, and John Horton McDaniel of Hilton Head, five great-grandchildren, Katherine Ann Horton, Elizabeth Addison Horton, Christopher Webster Horton, Noah Kennedy Horton and Samuel Redden Webster Horton, Jr. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, with burial in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:30 until the hour of services at the church. Memorials may be made to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church.
