TITLE: Esther Lorraine Henigin Grimm SOURCE: The Post and Courier SUBMITTED BY: The Post and Courier FORMATTED BY: Kim Grissom, Jun 2003 *********************************************************************** GRIMM, Esther PORT ROYAL, SC - Esther Lorraine Henigin Grimm, 74, passed away at Beaufort Memorial Hospital on Monday, October 8, 2001 at 10:15 p.m. Services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11, at Copeland Funeral Home with visitation at 6:00 p.m. Mrs. Grimm was born April 27, 1927 in Blairsville, Penn., a daughter of Thomas L. and Oneida Hogue Henigin. She attended S.S. Simon and Jude and Blairsville High Schools. She lived the first part of her life in the Blairsville, Indiana and Pittsburgh areas. She worked for the James Drilling Corp. in Blairsville, Brody's Department Store in Indiana and in finance at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She was also a volunteer with United Way of Pittsburgh. She lived in the South Carolina low country for over 20 years. She worked for Mary's Fashions Store in Mt. Pleasant and later managed the Vita Villa Health Food Store in Beaufort for many years. Upon retiring, she volunteered at The Red Door, a thrift shop which benefits Friends of Carolina Hospice. On April 21, 1991, Mrs. Grimm became a minister with the Alliance of Divine Love (ADL), an organization devoted to the promotion of peace, and the bringing of hope and joy through the giving, receiving and expansion of divine love. She was a member of Carteret Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Grimm was preceded in death by her son, Stanley Robert Shearer and a sister, Elizabeth L. (Henigan) Stiles. Survivors include her daughter, Virginia E. (Shearer) Hensley of Fripp Island, SC; a brother Leo T. Henigin of Natrona Heights, PA; two sisters, Alice O. Iverson of Schenectady, NY and Patricia I. Short of Blairsville, PA; her step-mother, Ruth (Smith) Henigin of Blairsville, PA; her five grandchildren, Laura Christine (Hensley) Ratcliffe and Malia Lorraine (Hensley) Cooler, both of Beaufort, Cheryl Lynn (Shearer) Claunch of Dallas, OR, Robert James Shearer of Roswell, GA and Stanley Robert Shearer, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA; two great-granddaughters, Maria Nicole Cooler of Beaufort and Emma Lauren Shearer of Roswell, GA and several nieces and nephews.
