The funeral will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. at Latta United Methodist Church with burial at Magnolia Cemetery in Latta. Kannaday's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held on Saturday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kannaday's Funeral Home in Latta. Mrs. Gasque was born on November 16, 1916 in Puyallup, Washington to Edgar Augustus Benton and Blanche Altamae Peacock Benton and was reared in Hanson, Mass. Mrs. Gasque was a graduate of Whitman High School and Brockton Business College. She was a secretary for the federal government in Washington, DC at the Italian Division of the Office of Secret Service. Mrs. Gasque was a member of the Latta United Methodist Church and a member of the Josephine Stackhouse Circle. She was married to Samuel Norwood Gasque, Sr. for 60 years. She is survived by her husband, Judge (Ret) Samuel Norwood Gasque, Sr., of the home; sons, Samuel Norwood (Marilyn) Gasque, Jr. of Flat Rock, NC, and Paul Edgar (Laura) Gasque of Latta; daughters, Judith Anne Gasque Moody of Florence and Nancy Ruth Gasque (Buzzy) Finklea of Latta; a sister, Glenna Ruth Oksanen of Halifax, Mass; grandchildren, Jesse James (Jennifer) Brigman, III, Nancy Elizabeth "Betsy" Finklea, Belva Jenkinson (Andy) Britt, Tracy Fore Finklea, Paul Conan Gasque, Lauren Elizabeth Gasque, all of Latta; and great-granddaughter, Savannah Victoria Britt of Latta. She was predeceased by a son, James Robert Gasque. Memorials may be made to Latta Methodist Church, P.O. Box 95, Latta, SC 29565 or the charity of one's choice.
