Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, at Little Swamp United Methodist Church with Rev. Douglas Marchant and Rev. Dale Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Directed by the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home. Mr. Ferguson was born in Bamberg County, a son of the late James Corbett Ferguson and Florrie Sanders Ferguson. He was a retired U.S. Navy Petty Officer First Class, having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a member of Little Swamp United Methodist Church and was a Mason. He was currently working for C.O. Classen Mechanic Company as a supervisor. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Doris Miley Ferguson, a son, Neal H. Ferguson, Jr., and his wife, Rhonda of Walterboro, a daughter, Sherril L. Shingler and her husband, Larry of Eutawville, a step-son, Terry Kinard of Georgia, sisters, Barbara Jane Buchanan of Columbia, and Mary Miles of Olar, a brother, Spencer Ferguson of Bamberg, six grandchildren, Carey Anne Bilton, Lana Maryland Vasquez, Kelly Ann Ferguson, Senior Airman (Sr) Derek Neal Vasquez, April Nareda Carter, and Quin Hayes Kinard, and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m., Friday, at the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.
