Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of the Fred Parker Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Posey Belcher and Dr. Steve Brown. Interment will be in Live Oak Cemetery. Mrs. Evans was born Sept. 27,1914 in Smoaks, a daughter of the late Lonnie B. Herndon and Chessie Myers Herndon. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Norma Nichols Circle for many years. She was a retired beautician and owner of Stokes Beauty Shop. Surviving are a daughter, Marjorie Funderburk of Columbia; three sisters, Ruth H. Bruins of Walterboro, Jane Moniz of North Charleston and Julie Westbury of St. Matthews; a brother, William (Billy) Herndon of Bowman; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lonnie Herndon, Jr. of California and Mrs. Harold Herndon of Reevesville and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Julian Gatch. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 650, Walterboro, SC 29488 or to the charity of one's choice. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the FRED PARKER FUNERAL HOME.
