Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of Virgil Ellis, Sr. and Edna Hudson Ellis. Mr. Ellis was a former employee of the State Ports Authority Security Staff. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Ellis was a Protestant. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Reid Ellis; daughters, Edna Reid of Baltimore, MD, Susan Ellis and Patricia Hessiltine both of Goose Creek; sons, Timothy Ellis and William Ellis both of Goose Creek; a sister, Helen Ingram of Lancaster; a brother, Emmett Ellis of California and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
