She had a 35 year encounter with Multiple Sclerosis. A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at 4 o'clock in Dorchester Memory Gardens Cemetery, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville, SC 29485. Friends may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville from 5 until 7 o'clock this evening. Born on August 12, 1931, in Sail City, Georgia, a daughter of the late James H. Mansfield and Irene May Mansfield Davis. In her years before stricken with Multiple Sclerosis, Betty Jo was active in her children's school, where she served two consecutive years as PTA President and was awarded a lifetime membership. Always willing to serve as a room mother, she unselfishly volunteered her time to her children's classes. Betty was an aspiration to others in the way that she fought and never succumbed to her disabilities. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her. Surviving are her loving: son and daughters-in-law: H. Kermit and Vicky Elliott, III of Summerville, Beverly D. Elliott of Summerville; son, Kevin J. Elliott of North Charleston; daughter, Cynthia V. Gordon of North Charleston; daughter-in-law, Lynn Elliott Salvo of Moncks Corner; grandchildren, Bradley S. and Hilary S.
