Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the graveside in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Walterboro, SC, conducted by Rev. Ed Stiltz, and directed by the Fred Parker Funeral Home. Mr. Black was born March 15, 1923 in Denmark, SC, a son of the late Rev. Walter Black and Vera Crosby Black Blakewood. He was a member of Tabor United Methodist Church and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (Local 1579). He was a Navy veteran of W.W. II and was the widower of Hortense Sweet Black. Surviving are two step-daughters, Norma McCall of Lake Toxaway, NC and Peggy Foster of Orangeburg, and a sister, Ava B. Thorson of Walterboro. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive. Memorials may be made to the Jernigan Cancer Fund, c/o University Hospital, Augusta, GA. The family will receive friends following the funeral services at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
