Funeral services will beheld at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Born in Charleston, he was the son of Vincent Carl Berger and Patricia Hinson Berger. Mr. Berger was a 1968 Citadel Graduate. He was a member of the Lonnie Hamilton Group for nine years, a member of the Blue Notes and performed for a number of local restaurants through the years. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Linda Lawhon Berger; sons, William Elliott Berger, II, and his wife, Millie, of Goose Creek, Andrew Elliott Berger and his wife, Laura, of Little Rock, Ark.; sisters, Gina Berger of Charleston, Frances Riding of Ravenel, and Margaret Richardson of Charleston; a brother, Joe Smith of Tallahassee, Fla.; grandchildren, Pamela Marie Berger and Loren Madison Berger. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Choice, 410 Mill St., Mt. Pleasant, S.C. 29464.
