Bendt and of Jack W. Black, died Monday, October 22, 2001 at her residence. Mrs. Bendt was born Saturday, September 16, 1916 in Charleston, the daughter of George Bule Hilton and Mary Ellen Robinson Hilton. Laura Mae loved to read and crochet but her greatest passion was her family. She will be forever known at the greatest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Mrs. Bendt is predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline Elizabeth Black Warren and also a grandson, Joseph Lamar Hazel. Mrs. Bendt is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Mae Black Bayne and Lola Kathleen Black Hazel; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2001, at the JAMES A. MCALISTER FUNERAL HOME. Her funeral service will be held, 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2001 at the JAMES A. MCALISTER CHAPEL, 1620 SAVANNAH HWY. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island.
