Mrs. Atwood was born in Findlay, Ohio August 29, 1919, a daughter of the late Dr. Troy Adams Spitler and Cara LaVerne Beck Spitler. She along with her late husband, Robert Miller Atwood, had owned and operated a Gift Shop in Deerfield Beach, Florida. She had been very active in local Civic Organizations, including the Wil Mila Ladies Group in Hampton, the local Prison Ministry, and was a member of the Community Faith Fellowship Church in Hampton. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia A. and James Blume of Hampton, Margo A. and Richard H. Gay of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. There are seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Hampton, with private burial in the Varnville Cemetery. Friends may call at the home on 344 Gooding Street in Varnville, from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday. The family suggests that those who wish may send memorials to the Community Christian Academy, 900 Wade Hampton Road in Hampton, SC, 29924.
