Richard Alston, 84 years old, the assistant pastor of New Holmes 
Street Baptist Church. Residence, 463 Race St., Charleston, S.C. The 
beloved husband of Mrs. Lucille M. Alston, the devoted father of Mrs. 
Catherine Debarr (William), Mrs. Mary Brown (Herbert), Mrs. Sandra 
Jamison (Arthur), Mrs. Minnie L. Sherrold, Mr. Richard Clary Alston, 
Mr. Timothy Alston, Mrs. Laura Ann Alston, Mrs. Thelma Magwood 
(Robert), and the late Mr. Archie Alston and Mr. Paul Alston.

Reuben Brown, Pastor. Interment, Sunset Memorial Gardens, N. 
Charleston, SC. Rev. Alston is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucille M. 
Alston, his children, Mrs. Catherine Debarr (William), Mrs. Mary Brown
(Herbert), Mrs. Sandra Jamison (Arthur), Mrs. Minnie L. Sherrold, Mr. 
Richard Clary Alston (Debra), Mr. Timothy Alston, Mrs. Laura Ann 
Alston (Herman), Mrs. Thelma Magwood (Robert) and Mrs. Taralyn Rowel; 
32 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren,
11 step-children, daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary Alston and other 
relatives and friends. Viewing for Rev. Alston will be at the William 
M. Smith Memorial Chapel, 2 Radcliffe Street, Charleston, SC on 
Wednesday, October 17, 2001 from 1:30 until 5:30 p.m. and at the 
church from 6 until 8 p.m. The family will receive friends from 7
