Richard H. Ahern formerly of Clemson, SC but currently of New Britain, Connecticut died on Thursday, October 11, 2001. Born in Hartford, Connecticut. He moved to Clemson as plant manager of Jacobs Manufacturing Co. and resided there until 1991. After the death of his wife Jane Sparkowski Ahern, he moved to New Britain when he married Martha Hughes. A member of Shuttle Meadow Country Club, he was recently named "Golfer of the Year". He is survived by his wife, Martha, two sons, Dr. Donald E. Ahern of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Gary Ahern of North Brunswick, NJ., two grandchildren, Anne Ahern Finch and husband Paul Durham Finch of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Sean Ahern of Atlanta, GA, a great-grandchild, Durham Richard Finch. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Christ Our King Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant on Saturday, November 3rd at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.
