Mr. Achesinski was born in Butler, Penn., on December 24, 1919, a son of the late Webster Achesinski and Josephine Butrym Achesinski. From 1938 to 1939, he was a pitcher for a N.Y. Yankee's farm team. Mr. Achesinski served in the Army during World War II in the European Theater. After the war, he moved to Georgetown and was an employee of International Paper Company until his retirement. Mr. Achesinski was a member of First Baptist Church, Winyah Lodge #40, Ancient Free Mason, and Omar Shrine Temple. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6444. Mr. Achesinski loved people, fishing, and dancing. He was the widower of Vencie Miller Achesinski. Surviving are, a son, Denzil Achesinski, of Chesapeake, Va.; a brother, Raymond Achesinski of Butler, Pa.; two sisters, Helen Andrew and Steffie Schnipzki, both of Butler, Pa.; a grandson, Jeffrey M. Achesinski and his wife, April of Virginia Beach, Va.; a granddaughter, Denise A. Ralston and her husband, Brian of Virginia Beach, Va.; a great-grandson, Joseph M. Achesinski of Virginia Beach, Va.; a great-granddaughter, Amber Marie Achesinski of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Moore and Glena Tipps, both of Georgeotwn and Bertha Moore of Durham, N.C.; two brothers-in-law, Reg K. Miller and his wife, Inez and David I. Miller, all of Georgetown; and special friends, Bonnie and David Woodberry of Andrews, Joyce Singleton, Jim and Sylvia Porywka, and Robert Graham, all of Virginia Beach, Va. Funeral services will be Tuesday morning, October 2, 2001, at 11 o'clock at First Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Sherrell. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Georgetown Chapel of MAYER FUNERAL HOME. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Monday evening, October 1, 2001, from 6 until 8 o'clock.
