Mr. Baker was born April 17, 1927, in Rembert, S.C., the son of William Frank and Mae Hatfield Baker. He retired from the DuPont Cooper River Plant in 1981 and became active in several senior bowling leagues in the Charleston area. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and served as the church treasurer. Mr. Baker was a Past President and Life Member of the Greater Charleston Bowling Association and was elected into their Hall of Fame in 1999. Surviving are his wife, Lucille, two sons, Ricky Baker and Larry Baker of Camden; three daughters, Linda Pope of Clinton, N.C., Brenda Melton of Columbia and Rebecca Hedinger of Camden; one brother, Tom Baker of Pinewood, S.C.; three sisters, Libby McLeod of Rembert, Carrie Lenoir of Horatio and Lila Delk of Surfside Beach; one step-son, Bill Smith of John's Island; four step-daughters, Lucille Vidrine of Goose Creek, Sally Curry of Phoenix, Georgia Bozard of James Island and Rachel Glover of Simms, Texas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service, 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2001, at the JAMES A. MCALISTER CHAPEL, 1620 SAVANNAH HWY. Burial will be in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home, Wednesday, May 30, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, P.O.
