TITLE: Ray Long SOURCE: Keowee Publications May 9, 2001 SUBMITTED: The Westminster News FORMATTED: Kim Grissom, June 2001 *********************************************************************** Seneca - Ray Long, 77, of 9 Humbert Street in Senecca, husband of Margaret Jeanette Cox Long, died May 1, 2001 at Oconee Memorial Hospital. Born in Westminster, he was the son of the late Kytle and Nancy Margaret Suttles Long. He was retired brick mason, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II in Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands, and Japan. In addition to his wife, surviviors include three sons, Tony Ray Long of Liberty, Steven and Timothy Long both of Seneca; a brother Earl Long of Pendleton; five sisters, Dovie Lee Morton of Andersonl. Louise Stancil of Iva, Rosa Lee Jenkins, Pearl Goss, and Audrey Mae James all of Seneca; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Long was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Grady, and Conrad Long. Funeral services were held Friday at the East Mian Street Church of God, conducted by the Reverends Marivn Lee and Harrison Steege. Burial followed in Oconee Memorial Park with military honors.
