Marvin L. Chaplin, 34, of Orange Grove, St. Helena Island, son of Howard and Harriette 
Chaplin, died Friday, May 11, 2001, in Jacksonville, Fla. Chisholm Galloway Home for 
Funerals is in charge. (Beaufort Gazette May 14, 2001)

Marvin Lee Chaplin Jr. 
Marvin Lee Chaplin Jr., 34, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Friday, May 11, 2001, in Jacksonville. 
Services will be at noon today in Faith Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Chaplin was a son of 
Howard and Harriet Chaplin Jr. of St. Helena Island. He was a graduate of Beaufort High 
School and attended South Carolina State University. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps 
where he served in Desert Storm and received numerous medals and awards. He was a member 
of Scott New Church of Christ. Surviving are his parents of St. Helena Island; two sisters, 
Diane Chaplin and Marva Neal of St. Helena Island; two brothers, Kelvin Chaplin of 
Orangeburg and Eric Chaplin of Laural, Md.; his maternal grandmother, Mary Young; and his 
paternal grandparents, Lewiston Chaplin and Howard Chaplin Sr. Helen Galloway's Chisholm 
Funeral Home, Beaufort, is in charge.
