Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Georgetown Chapel of MAYER FUNERAL HOME. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, Tuesday evening, from 6 until 8 o'clock. (The Post and Courier May 29, 2001) CARTER, Mary GEORGETOWN - Mary Folger Carter, 80, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at her residence. Mrs. Carter was born in Lumberton, N.C., on May 20, 1921, a daughter of the late Milton Nathaniel Folger and Ethel Higby Folger. She was a graduate of Flora Macdonald College in Red Springs, N.C., and was teaching at McDonald Elementary School, when she retired. Mrs. Carter was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, the Susanna Wesley Church School Class, and the Bishop Tarboux Circle of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Carter was the widow of A.B. Carter, who died in 1999. Surviving are, a son, Dr. James F. Carter of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Lynn C. Gibson of Columbia; and five grandchildren; Kyle Authier Gibson and Cade Carter Gibson, both of Columbia, and Jared Cook Carter, Chad Michael Folger Carter, and Todd Joseph Carter, all of Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be 1 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, May 30, 2001, in Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Phillip C. Thrailkill and the Rev. James B. Carter, Jr. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Georgetown Chapel of MAYER FUNERAL HOME. The family suggests memorials to Tara Hall, P.O. Box 955, Georgetown, S.C. 29442.
