A native of Oconee County, she was a homemaker and a member of Rocky Knoll Baptist Church. She was the wife of James M. (Jim) Smith of the home, and the daughter of the late Dedrich Perry and Gertrude Brown Rutledge. Surviving in addition to her husband are sons, Jerry, Warren and Steve Smith, all of Walhalla; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sons, Wayne and Johnny Smith; a daughter, Delores Smith; a brother, Dewitt Rutledge; and a sister, Hilton R. Sanders. Graveside services were at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
