Higgins, 96, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at a Summerville hospital. Born September 5, 1904, in Winthrop Harbor, Ill., he was the son of Homan and Jennifer Bristol Higgins. Mr. Higgins was a retired machinist and was a former resident of Indiana and Florida before moving to South Carolina. His wife, Muriel Edwards Higgins preceded him in death. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Harlan and Carol Higgins of Goose Creek; daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine and Terry Richards of South Bend, Ind.; three grandchildren, Tamara Garner and her husband, Robbie, and Chad Higgins, all of Goose Creek, and Brent Richards of Indianapolis, Ind.; and two great granddaughters, Tawnni and Ashley Garner of Goose Creek. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 20, 2001, from 2 to 4 p.m., at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 100 S. Goose Creek Blvd. (Hwy 52), Goose Creek.
