TITLE: Lucius Davis SOURCE: The New and Reporter, May 17, 2001 SUBMITTED: The News and Reporter FORMATTED: Kim Grissom, May 2001 *********************************************************************** Mr. Lucius Davis Sr. CARLISLE — The funeral for Mr. Lucius Davis Sr. of 6878 Ashford Ferry Road, Carlisle, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Upper Hope Station Baptist Church in Carlisle with the Rev. George Lowery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Christopher King’s Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, in charge. Mr. Davis died Monday, May 7, 2001, at the Chester County Nursing Center. He was a son of the late Ed Davis and the late Bessie Coleman Davis. He attended the public schools of Fairfield County and was a member of the Upper Hope Station Baptist Church. He worked in pulpwood and construction for many years. Survivors are his wife, Mattie B. Charles Davis; three sons, Lucius Davis Jr. and his wife, Dorothy, Paul Lee Davis and his wife, Tonny Louise, all of Chester, and James Davis and his wife, Mary Ann, of Carlisle; four daughters, Bernice Darnell and her husband, Sherman, of Carlisle, Elanie Kennedy of Columbia, Mary Ann Rikard and her husband, Mike, of Newberry, and Nancy Davis of Chester; a brother, P.C. Davis of Blair; two sisters, Sarah Frances Burkett and her husband, James, and Mary Jane Davis, all of Rock Hill; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the home at 6878 Ashford Ferry Road. Viewing is 3 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Christopher King’s Funeral Home.
